On our way home Spring 2011!

I have been very lazy for the past seven months or so .....just too much to do I guess but here goes as we update this blog to bring our life up to date. Anne and I have had a busy Spring, Summer and Fall so I will keep my writing to a minimum and put a lot of pictures on here to record our memories.

When we left Florida in the Spring of 2011, we had made an offer to purchase a Double wide mobile home located at Orange Harbor in Fort Myers....We not only fell in love with the home but really fell in love with the area, situated on the Orange and Caloosahatchee Rivers ....The folks here are extremely friendly and of course there is plenty to do here....

On our way home....

  • After a month of fun, good food, friends, and sunshine, we decided to leave a couple of days early to beat the rush home.  We did make a stop at Parkdale's Fruit Stand in Plant City to pick up some oranges and enjoy their Fresh Strawberry shortcake.....It was sooooo good!!!
  • We safely arrived home on the 2nd of April, and here we are back home in Canada, cool and rainy...what a change in weather.
  • Now on to other things in life such as the boat which we are renovating.  It will be a busy month before launching but we are looking forward to getting back on the water....
A look at the inside of the Fruit Market....
A cute sign that had a definite purpose....
    Anne enjoying her fresh strawberries....

Will keep everyone updated as the month goes on.....

Our Good Bye Dinner

Don and Dawn were leaving early Wednesday morning so we planned a dinner of fresh Gulf Shrimp and Scallops over pasta, with fresh bread, salad and wine of course!

We look forward to seeing them again on our way home when they get to Edisto Beach, South Carolina

A trip to Sanibel Island

The next day we drove over to Sanibel Island located off shore of Fort Myers Beach.  Beautiful location, but very expensive.....Huge and expensive homes....not gated communities but Gated homes...Anne checked out a small condo that rented for $2000 per week...WOW!....
We drove around the island and stopped by the Mucky Duck for lunch.  great food and drinks except for the duck fingers? that Don had....the cheeseburger was great...
Here are some photos we took while there

Sanibel Island

How about this sign at the tourist info centre...Do you think they get much snow here?

Finally getting this blog up to date.....

It has been such a busy month but we have been having a great time!!!  The weather is still hot and sunny.  We have had only one and a half days with any rain but the sun has shone every day.  Our good friends, Don and Dawn arrived on the 14th to spend 10 days with us here in the park..It was wonderful having them here with us.  we started off our week with a swim in the pool.....actually we have swam every day....the pools are salt water.  and of course we enjoyed our daily happy hour :).  Check out these photos as follows.....

After our swim, sitting at their trailer, enjoying a glass of wine and beer....

Looks like dinner is ready!!
