Our Good Bye Dinner

Don and Dawn were leaving early Wednesday morning so we planned a dinner of fresh Gulf Shrimp and Scallops over pasta, with fresh bread, salad and wine of course!

We look forward to seeing them again on our way home when they get to Edisto Beach, South Carolina

A trip to Sanibel Island

The next day we drove over to Sanibel Island located off shore of Fort Myers Beach.  Beautiful location, but very expensive.....Huge and expensive homes....not gated communities but Gated homes...Anne checked out a small condo that rented for $2000 per week...WOW!....
We drove around the island and stopped by the Mucky Duck for lunch.  great food and drinks except for the duck fingers? that Don had....the cheeseburger was great...
Here are some photos we took while there

Sanibel Island

How about this sign at the tourist info centre...Do you think they get much snow here?

It has been such a busy month but we have been having a great time!!!  The weather is still hot and sunny.  We have had only one and a half days with any rain but the sun has shone every day.  Our good friends, Don and Dawn arrived on the 14th to spend 10 days with us here in the park..It was wonderful having them here with us.  we started off our week with a swim in the pool.....actually we have swam every day....the pools are salt water.  and of course we enjoyed our daily happy hour :).  Check out these photos as follows.....

After our swim, sitting at their trailer, enjoying a glass of wine and beer....

Fort Myers area

It has been a busy few days since we arrived here in Fort Myers Beach.  We have only made it to the beach once and really only saw the inside of a couple of bars :)  namely the Beach Pub, sitting right on the beach in the sand and another bar overlooking the harbour and bay between the mainland and Fort Myers Beach.  What a busy area, it took us over an hour to get to the beach because of Spring Break.  We finished out our evening at the Legion with a few strong Vodkas....wow were they strong!
On Friday of last week we went to the Fort Myers Boat show in Lee County.  It consisted mainly of fishing boats...not much to see but we did talk to quite a few people, and had lunch at the Happy Gourmet....free because we listened to his presentation...he did try to sell us new pots and pans though....but we held tight and told him we came to see boats not food.....

Having Drinks with Gerry, Diane, Steve over looking the bay...

Finally made it to Fort Myers , florida

We had a great trip down from Canada, staying a night in Fairfax, Virginia, just outside of Washington DC and then our next night was in South Carolina .  We avoided any rain or snow so that was great and we could tell the weather was getting warmer.   Gotta like that. As we were coming down, we called our friends, Bob and Carol in Clearwater (also of Myers Pier a dock), Florida to say hello.  They invited us to send a wonderful evening with them including wine, steaks and of course we got to have "Bobs breakfast in the morning...It was great, Bob....We really appreciated your hospitality.
The next day we headed for our Park where we are staying , checked in went shopping for food and wine etc. and have been here ever since.I will put some pictures on here as follows...

Since arriving here we have met several people, drank some beer and wine of course :), had some great fish meals, including Grouper, shrimp, stone crab and plan to have a lot more while we are here.  The following pictures are of the mobile we are in....

Our Kitchen of course with chef looking on, doing a taste test.....

We have found plenty of fish markets around here selling fresh delicious fish from the Gulf of Mexico....
Another day this past week, we took a drive to Fort Myers Yacht club to find some Loopers...We did meet one couple , whom we had met in Alabama, last Fall . We took just a couple of pics of the Marina..
And that's about it so far other than the fact the weather has been warm and beautiful with no snow , hardly any rain to speak of and a real fun time....Oh I forget to mention that Anne left this morning to look at fabrics....and thank goodness she left me here:)
This week we plan to go to the local Fort Myers Boat show, hoping to pick up some ideas and supplies Maybe a wheel for (Dave and Sandra :))if possible..  We will get back after that to let you know how we make out....that is if this computer keeps going as we believe we are having a disc problem with it.
Hope all is well with everyone up North....We are on Skype and google Phone.
